Yoga

from Shoeboxblog.com

Scott and I are starting a yoga class downtown tomorrow - thank goodness, I need it! We attended a kirtan about a month ago and saw the yoga space and met one of the teachers. I feel intimidated because it is a new class with new people (I was quite attached to my previous yoga teacher in VT), because we are relatively new in town, and because this studio is devoted to Hinduism and I always feel a little inadequate or uncomfortable with the very religious. It's strange to feel nervous around yoga...it's one of the most comforting and relaxing, home-like things in my life. And I've been practicing for years. But I haven't been in a class in quite a long time, and frankly, I think I am getting more shy as the years progress. I was very shy as a child, which my friends would probably NOT believe now. But as time goes by, I find myself reverting to that nervous little girl still inside. I'm looking forward to stretching my limbs though, and making connections inwardly on a deep spiritual level.

I'm the same way. New social situations are uncomfortable for me. Something tells me that you'll be OK :)
